Recipes for the Intolerant – Recipe 1: Celeriac, Mushroom & Puy Stew with Salsa Verde

During 2010 I seemed to keep meeting people with lists of things they can’t eat anymore. I like the idea of cooking food that everyone can join in with so I’m developing some supper ideas over the forthcoming months. I also need to make food that will fill us up properly, so non of your flimsy fodder!
We’re finalising pages for Issue 6 of Liquorice Mag, and will be including some recipes in that issue and future ones as well as posting them here as we test them. Feedback really welcome!!
And here’s the list of culprits I’m excluding  so far…
The deadly nightshade family, inc: aubergines, courgettes, tomatoes, peppers, potatoes
Are there others? Let me know!

‘THE WHEELIE THING’ Kitchen Design Must-Have!

For some years I’ve had problems with our collection of spices, They’re stuffed in a cupboard and I can’t ever find the ones I need. I hanker after a spice rack, but know too well the style police won’t allow such a sin, even ironically. Over the Christmas hols, John knocked up this utterly brilliant “Wheelie Thing” which also holds our cleaning stuff too.

Like many things in our home, it’s recycled from materials John has used in previous art installations. The Wheelie Thing is adapted from  ‘Twilight Shift’ Shillam + Smith3, London  2005
See how easy it is for me to identify the spice I need
You want one? Bespoke…it will wow your friends and improve the quality of your life in the kitchen. Quickly view it in action below and then drop me an email to find out about commissioning one!

Christmas Presents to help the New Year

I’ve got a lot of studio work to do in the next couple of months and the thing is, it’s tempting to wear pyjama based outfits when you don’t need to leave the house. So here’s me in my lovely new Xmas pressie studio cardi and studio slippers ….. deliver your hearts out people…. I’m dressed ready to receive!….in an immaculately tidy studio ready to concentrate.

Another fine present was from Sally….Henry and Hettie, the perfect studio friends. It’s important for creativity to take breaks. Here they are in action….
